Shad Lee Robling, 43, Linton, was arrested by Deputy William C. Walker of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department early Tuesday, September 7.

At 4:32 a.m. Tuesday, Greene County Dispatch got a call about a man walking west in the 1400 block of County Road 500 North. The caller said the man, who was shirtless, appeared to be about 5’8” tall, 180 lbs. with long hair. The caller said the man was belligerent and was yelling. Deputy Walker was dispatched and Linton Police Officers Bobby Pierce and Zachary Goad also responded to the area.

When he arrived, Deputy Walker said he found a shirtless man with long hair lying in the roadway, semi-responsive, slurring his words. He was hard to understand but the man said he was walking and passed out from cramping.

The other officers then arrived and the man was identified as Robling. He was assisted to a sitting position then to a standing position but Deputy Walker said he was swaying back and forth and could not stand without assistance. Standard field sobriety tests were not conducted for safety reasons.

Robling was handcuffed and assisted to a patrol vehicle then transported to Greene County General for a medical check before he was transported to the Greene County Jail where he was booked in at 9:14 a.m.

Deputy Walker reported that when Robling’s backpack was searched, he found a smoking device with burnt residue, green plant material, a red straw with a white powdery substance, a glass smoking device with a white crystal residue, a syringe and a small bag containing a white crystal substance that field-tested positive as methamphetamine.

Robling was being held without bond pending court appearance.

A criminal case was filed against Robling in Greene Superior Court earlier today on charges of:

  • Possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony,

  • Unlawful possession of syringe, a Level 6 felony,

  • Possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor,

  • Public intoxication that endangers life, a Class B misdemeanor, and

  • Possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.
