Rural Linton man arrested after fight with his brother

One man was arrested after a deputy responded to a fight between brothers at a rural Linton residence that caused some injuries and left blood on both faces as well as on the floor, a bed and a wall.

Issac Brandon Shepard

Issac Brandon Shepard, 18, Linton, was arrested by Deputy Logan Milligan of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department on Friday night, January 21.

Deputy Milligan was dispatched to a residence in rural Linton after a caller reported two men with bloody faces were in a fight and were destroying the house. Lt. Bobby Pierce and Officer Cayden Walker of the Linton Police Department also responded to assist on scene.

Deputy Milligan said when she entered the residence, she saw Shepard, sitting in the living room with family members, had a swollen left eye, a scratch on one side of his nose and a red scratch on his chin. Shepard admitted he’d been in a fight with his brother. When asked what started it, Shepard allegedly said his brother called him a liar and he “went off” and grabbed a coffee mug and started hitting his brother in the face with the mug.

Deputy Milligan reported the brother had a deep, bloody gash on his chin and a bloody mouth due to loose teeth. The brother didn’t want an ambulance but a family member said they’d take him to the hospital for treatment.

When the brother was asked about what started the argument, the brother confirmed he’d called Shepard a liar. He said his brother then attacked him.

Family members said the two have always fought but it had gotten worse.

Shepard was taken into custody and transported to the Greene County Jail where he was booked in at 7:41 p.m. His bond was set at $4,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed.

Last Thursday when Shepard appeared in Greene Superior Court for his initial hearing via two-way video connection between the jail and the courtroom, a public defender was appointed to represent him and he was served with a protective order ordering him to have no contact with the alleged victim.

Shepard has been charged with domestic battery resulting in moderate bodily injury, a Level 6 felony.

Since his hearing, Shepard has posted $400 and been released from custody.
