Paige Nicole Price, 22, Bloomington, was due in court for her initial hearing earlier today. She was arrested by Indiana State Police Trooper Caleb Garvin on Friday, January 31.

Price was a passenger in a black Buick with Joseph Kyle Hellums, 40, behind the wheel. Trooper Garvin was on patrol in the area of State Road 45 and SR 445 when he noticed a black Buick stopped at a red light did not have a license plate. He initiated a traffic stop and the Buick pulled over on SR 45 just south of SR 445.

When Trooper Garvin started talking to Hellums, he said he could smell the odor of burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle. He also recognized Hellums from previous drug investigations in northern Monroe County involving the dealing of heroin and methamphetamine.

After Trooper Cory Knight arrived to assist in a search of the vehicle, they reported a partially burnt hand-rolled cigarette they believed contained marijuana was found in the driver’s seat. Hellums was cited for possession of marijuana and released from the scene.

Trooper Garvin reported Price was found to be in possession of numerous syringes, multiple blue rubber tie-off bands and two metal spoons with burn marks and residue.

Price was taken into custody and transported to the Greene County Jail where she was booked in around 5 p.m. Her bond was set at $4,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. She has since posted $400 and been released from jail.

Price has been charged with unlawful possession of a syringe, a Level 6 felony.
