Man facing felony charge after couple argues about something ‘stupid’
/A Bloomfield man was in court Monday, charged with domestic battery, after a couple got into an argument over something the alleged victim said was not even worth arguing about.
Victor Wesley Vanhentenryck, 45, Bloomfield, was arrested by Bloomfield Deputy Marshal Marvin Holt on Monday, October 8.
Officer Holt was dispatched at 4:23 p.m. to a residence on Laura Lane about a domestic incident between a couple who had gotten into an argument earlier in the day. He talked to a woman who said the argument continued after Vanhentenryck got home from work. She said it was about something “stupid” that was not even worth arguing about.
But at some point, Vanhentenryck allegedly grabbed her wrists and pulled her off a couch. One wrist was red, swollen and painful so she walked to the home of a family member where she iced then wrapped her arm in an ace-type bandage.
She then returned home and told Vanhentenryck she was going to call the police.
Officer Holt took pictures of her wrist, and he learned a small child was in the room when the altercation occurred.
Holt said when he located Vanhentenryck at the home of a family member, Vanhentenryck was calm and immediately said he had “screwed up.” He allegedly admitted he had grabbed the woman with both of his hands to her lower arms and pulled but didn’t realize he had hurt her. He also admitted their child was in the house and though he thought they were in a bedroom, they could probably hear everything that was going on.
Vanhentenryck was transported to jail where his bond was set at $4,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. He later posted $400 cash, was released and given a court date.
He was scheduled to appear in Greene Superior Court Monday afternoon on a preliminary charge of domestic battery committed in the presence of a child less than 16 years of age, a Level 6 felony.
