Linton woman charged with meth possession
/After police called EMS last week for a Linton woman for a possible medical emergency, she refused medical treatment. She was then arrested and jailed on drug charges.
Rachel May Cravens, 35, Linton, was arrested by Det. Logan Hobbs of the Linton Police Department on Monday, February 28.
That morning, an individual reported a situation to the Linton Police Department and when Det. Hobbs talked to them, they said they provide transportation to school to a child from Cravens’ house each morning but that morning when they went to Cravens’ residence, the door was locked and Cravens wasn’t answering her phone. When the child finally answered the door and let them inside, they found Cravens lying in bed with a “crack pipe” next to her.
They took the child to school then went back to wake Cravens. When they were unable to wake her, they went to the police department and Det. Hobbs requested the Linton Fire Department EMS to respond along with Det. Hobbs and Officer Davis Aerne. They found Cravens in the same position and when EMS finally woke her, she declined medical treatment.
Cravens allegedly admitted she had smoked meth in the pipe the night before and that she and the child were the only people in the residence.
According to Det. Hobbs, the residue in the pipe field-tested positive as methamphetamine.
Cravens was transported by Officer Aerne to the Greene County Jail where she was booked in at 2:23 p.m. She was held without bond pending court appearance.
When Cravens appeared in Greene Superior Court last Thursday via video connection between the jail and the courtroom, her bond was set at $4,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed and she was charged with:
Possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony, and
Possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.
