Linton woman accused of intimidation

A Linton woman, accused of threatening another woman over the phone and sending threatening text messages, has been charged with intimidation.

Nicole Ann Alexander, 28, of Linton, appeared in Greene Superior Court this week and was charged with intimidation involving threatening to place another in fear of retaliation, a Class A misdemeanor.

A criminal case was filed against Alexander in late October following an investigation by Det. Paul Clark of the Linton Police Department.  The investigation started in late August after a woman reported she had received threats from Alexander.

When Det. Clark met with the woman at the police department, the woman explained she had a child in common with Alexander’s husband and she had recently made a report to the Department of Child Services (DCS) about the conditions at the Alexander residence.

The day before she reported the threats, she said she was talking to Alexander’s husband on the phone about the complaint, and she could also hear Alexander yelling at her, making several threatening statements. The woman said she had also received threatening text messages from Alexander.

In a probable cause affidavit prepared by Det. Clark, he said he saw the text messages which said, “Watch your back,” and “I’m going to beat your f------ head into the f------ ground.”

Det. Clark also said he listened to the audio of the phone call that the woman had recorded. Clark reported he could hear the conversation between the woman and a male voice, but he also heard a female voice yelling obscenities and stating she was “gonna beat her f------ a--.”

Clark said when he talked to Alexander’s husband, he said Alexander was upset due to the DCS complaint but no threats were made.

Clark said when he talked to Alexander, she at first denied threats being made through text messages and when asked about the phone conversation, she indicated she was very upset and was yelling but she denied making threats. But Clark said Alexander later said she did tell the woman she was going to “beat her” and she also indicated she was the one who sent the threatening text messages.

Alexander was not arrested in this case, but she was summoned to appear in court this week for an initial hearing. During the hearing, she was formally charged and a public defender was appointed to represent her.
