Amy Lynn Bowers, 49, Linton, was arrested by Sgt. Bobby Pierce of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department and booked into the Greene County Jail around 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 21, following a domestic incident that occurred Friday, November 20.

After a physical confrontation at a residence in the Linton area was reported to the sheriff’s department, officers from the Linton Police Department responded until Sgt. Pierce and possibly other deputies could arrive.

When Sgt. Pierce talked to a woman on the scene, she explained she was the adoptive mother of two children and was there to pick up her children following a visit with their grandmother, Amy Bowers. She said Bowers is allowed visitation on the weekends but her daughter, the biological mother of the children, is not to be there with the children without special permission. The woman said when she learned the biological mother was there, she went to the residence to get the children but was met with aggressive behavior from Bowers.

The woman alleged that Bowers grabbed a broom handle and came at her with it while screaming at her. When the woman brought the children out to her vehicle, Bowers allegedly grabbed the woman by her hair and smacked her in the face, knocking her glasses off.

Sgt. Pierce noted that the children confirmed they had witnessed the altercation and that they were visibly upset and crying.

Bowers confirmed the biological mother was not supposed to be there, but she was at the residence. She allegedly said she did not touch the adoptive mother and nothing physical happened.

When Bowers was told she was under arrest, she allegedly said she wasn’t going to jail and walked away, then pulled away from Sgt. Pierce. She allegedly continued to pull away and resist as she was detained by Sgt. Pierce, Deputy Davis Aerne and LPD Officer Nick Yingling.

On the way to jail, Bowers said it was the adoptive mother who was screaming and had hold of her hair.

Bond was set at $2,500 surety with ten percent cash allowed. Bowers posted $250 and was released later the same day.

Last week a criminal case was filed against Bowers and she is scheduled to appear in Greene Superior Court for an initial hearing on Thursday to be formally charged with:

  • Intimidation, a Class A misdemeanor,

  • Battery, a Class B misdemeanor, and

  • Resisting law enforcement – knowingly or intentionally forcibly resists, a Class A misdemeanor.
