A Linton man accused of punching another man in the face during an incident in Lyons was charged with disorderly conduct, a Class B misdemeanor, when he appeared in court last Thursday morning.
Kalib Matthew White, 21, was summoned into Greene Superior Court following the incident that occurred the evening of May 31.
Greene County Sheriff’s Deputy Harvey Holt was dispatched around 7:45 p.m. to a residence on Mulberry Street in Lyons after a woman called to make a complaint about a threat allegedly made by Morgan Turner – and that’s a separate case.
While Deputy Holt was en route, a second call came into dispatch from another person to make a complaint that Kalib White had punched him.
Holt investigated both incidents.
In the situation involving White, when Holt interviewed the caller, the man said he’d gone to the residence to visit his children but when he arrived, he was approached by his ex-wife’s current boyfriend and Kalib White.
The man told the deputy he asked White why he was there and White said he was defending his friend, then reached into the man’s vehicle and punched him in the left eye and cheek area. The man said he had not threatened White and he did not get out of his vehicle.
Holt reported that he spoke to three other people who were there and said they witnessed White hitting the man.
During his hearing, a deputy public defender, Ashley Dyer, was appointed to represent White in this case.
White was represented by another deputy public defender, Tim Shonk, in a different case that was filed against White about a year ago.
In the previous case, White was also charged with disorderly conduct involving fighting or tumultuous conduct, a Class B misdemeanor. He was accused of getting into a physical altercation and hitting another family member several times.
In that case, White entered into a pretrial diversion agreement in January of 2018.
