Linton man arrested on charges of strangling, battering pregnant woman

A 28-year-old Linton man was arrested Feb. 28 after allegedly grabbing his pregnant girlfriend by the neck, shoving her to the ground and kicking her stomach.

Linton Police Department Officer Mitchell Eberhardt arrested Jonathan Richard Rose on charges of domestic battery with bodily injury to a pregnant person and strangulation when the victim is pregnant.

Eberhardt met with the victim at the Linton Police Department to take a report of the incident. According to the probable cause affidavit, the victim, who is pregnant, said Rose grabbed her by the neck, taking her to the ground. She also alleged he kicked her in the stomach.

The victim said the two were in a screaming match and she wanted to go somewhere else to get away. She alleged she loaded her belongings in the car as Rose said he would take her where she wanted to go. After she got her things in the car, she said, according to the probable cause, Rose said he was no longer going to take her. The victim said they went inside, which is when the incident occurred.

The victim went to the hospital to get checked out due to the pregnancy. Officer Eberhardt went to the hospital to further speak with the victim. According to the probable cause, Eberhardt noticed visible redness on the right side of her face and what looked like finger marks on her wrist. She also had a red mark on her back and bruises on both of her knees. The victim alleged the bruises were from when Rose pushed her on the ground.

Eberhardt and Jasonville Police Department Officer Skylar Scott went to the Northwest Third Street residence in Linton where the incident occurred to speak with Rose. According to the probable cause affidavit, Rose said he and the victim got into a fight and she punched him in the face. Eberhardt wrote in the probable cause that he did not see any redness or bruising on Rose’s face. Rose denied putting his hands around the victim’s neck or kicking her in the stomach.

Rose is scheduled to appear in Greene Superior Court for an initial hearing on March 11.
