A Linton man has been arrested by a school resource officer and charged with possession of methamphetamine after he dropped his wallet, allegedly containing a baggie of meth, in the elementary school parking lot when dropping children off before school on Monday.

Michael Craig Faulk, 27, Linton, was arrested by School Resource Officer Joshua Goodman of Linton-Stockton Schools on Monday, November 2. Around 9:27 a.m., Faulk was booked into the Greene County Jail where he was being held without bond pending court appearance.

On Monday morning, November 2, personnel in the office of the Linton-Stockton Elementary School contacted L-S School Resource Officer Joshua Goodman because a wallet had been found in the elementary school parking lot and they believed there were drugs in the wallet. They also said the person who owned the wallet, Michael Faulk, had just arrived to pick up his wallet.

When SRO Goodman got to the office and checked the wallet, he reported it did have a plastic corner baggie partially exposed from one of the credit card slots. It contained a white crystal substance that field-tested positive as methamphetamine. The wallet also contained an Indiana identification card for Michael Faulk.

Faulk was waiting outside the building and when Officer Goodman took the wallet outside, Faulk said it was his wallet. When Officer Goodman said a bag of methamphetamine was found in the wallet, Faulk allegedly said his wallet had been missing for days and he didn’t know how that substance ended up in his wallet.

Faulk was taken into custody and transported to jail.

When Officer Goodman later reviewed video footage of the parking lot during the drop-off time that morning, he saw Faulk arrive to drop off children and park in a spot near the loop. Officer Goodman said Faulk did exit the vehicle at one point and he was wearing the same shirt as he was wearing when he was arrested.

Officer Goodman reported the video showed when Faulk exited the parking spot, another vehicle pulled into the same spot and the driver got out of the vehicle and bent over to pick something up off the ground. That driver then walked directly to a staff member and handed the wallet to them.

In a probable cause affidavit prepared by Officer Goodman, he wrote, “Based on the information obtained when reviewing the video, it is clear to me that Michael C. Faulk’s wallet was dropped on November 2, 2020, when he dropped off children and the wallet was immediately found by another parent that parked in that spot next and turned into school staff. Based on the above information, it is clear to me that Michael C. Faulk was in possession of methamphetamine.”

Faulk has been charged with possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony.
