William Frederick Cody, 61, Linton, was arrested by Officer Janzen Franklin of the Linton Police Department on Monday, June 28.

At 3:47 on Monday afternoon, a woman called the Linton Police Department about a man who was trespassing on her property. Officer Franklin and Officer Orry Phipps responded and when they located the suspect, they recognized him to be William Cody.

Cody allegedly said he was supposed to be mowing the yard for someone but later said he thought he was at the wrong house.

When Cody was asked if he had any weapons on him, he said no but a pat down revealed he did have a pocket knife. He also had a small jar in a cargo pocket. When asked what was in the jar, Cody allegedly said it was “home grown” but when asked if it was marijuana, Cody said it was “synthetic.” Officer Franklin said Cody was also found in possession of two smoking devices.

Cody was booked into the Greene County Jail at 5:23 p.m. He was being held without bond pending court appearance – as of late Thursday night, he was still in jail.

Cody is facing preliminary charges of:

  • Possession of a controlled substance, a Class A misdemeanor, and

  • Possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.
