Linton man accused of touching woman inappropriately

An 86-year-old Linton man, accused of battery resulting in bodily injury, is being summoned to appear in court in mid-November.

Larry Kinnett, 86, of Linton, is facing a preliminary charge of battery resulting in bodily injury, a Class A misdemeanor.

The charge resulted after an investigation by Officer Orry Phipps of the Linton Police Department that began back on September 19 when a woman went to the police department and wanted to report that she had been sexually assaulted by Kinnett.

Phipps interviewed both parties and reported the woman said she was interested in buying a property for sale by Kinnett and an incident occurred when she was riding in his truck on a drive to take a look at the property. She alleged Kinnett touched her inappropriately by touching and squeezing her breast. She said when this occurred, she was wearing a bra with an underwire and it pressed against her and caused pain but did not leave any bruising, just a red mark for a couple of minutes.

Kinnett allegedly admitted he touched the woman but he thought she wanted him to.

A criminal case was filed against Kinnett yesterday, October 16, in Greene Superior Court. Kinnett will receive a summons ordering him to appear in court for an initial hearing on November 14.
