Jordan Blake Thompson, 30, Linton, was arrested by Officer Dustin Cain of the Jasonville Police Department last Tuesday, June 22.

Officer Cain was dispatched to a location on Moss Street south of Sycamore Street in Jasonville after a resident called Greene County Dispatch to report a Jeep Wrangler was sitting in the road in front of his residence with the lights still on.

Officer Cain located the maroon Jeep sitting in the road on Moss Street with the lights still on and the engine still running. The driver, later identified as Jordan Blake Thompson, was asleep at the wheel.

Officer Cain knocked on the door but did not get a response from the driver. He knocked again – no response. Then he tapped the driver on the shoulder – no response. He tapped on the driver’s shoulder again and this time, Thompson allegedly opened his eyes then closed them again. So Officer Cain knocked on the side of the Jeep and Thompson then woke up.

Thompson said he thought he was ok but first gave an answer indicating he was confused about where he’d been and where he was going. Then he allegedly admitted he’d been drinking earlier at his girlfriend’s residence in Lyons.

The officer reported Thompson showed signs of intoxication and he detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath. Thompson refused to take all of the field sobriety tests and refused to take a chemical test.

Thompson was first transported to the Linton Police Department then after a search warrant was issued, personnel from the Greene County Ambulance Service took a blood draw – results pending.

Thompson was then booked into the Greene County Jail with bond set at $4,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. He has since posted bond and been released from jail.

He was scheduled to be in court for his initial hearing earlier today, June 28, to face a charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a Class C misdemeanor.
