Kenneth Pettus, Jr., 28, Jasonville, was arrested by Officer Andrew Duguay of the Jasonville Police Department on Tuesday, September 29. Pettus was booked into the Greene County Jail at 4:17 p.m. and is being held without bond.

Pettus was previously arrested on August 26 by Deputy James Carpenter of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department and charged with auto theft, a Level 6 felony. He was accused of stealing a Kawasaki Mule. To find the story posted on GreeneStreets on August 27 about the incident, click on the Tag “Kenneth Pettus Jr” below this story.

Since then, Pettus posted bond and was released from jail. But on Monday, September 28, the prosecutor’s office filed a petition to revoke his bond. The court approved, his bond was revoked, a warrant was issued for his arrest and he was taken into custody by Officer Duguay on Tuesday, September 29.

A person released on bond must agree to certain conditions, one of which is to not get into any more trouble with the law. The petition to revoke his bond may have been triggered by a new criminal case being filed against Pettus involving a charge of trespassing.

Back on Wednesday, September 2, around 7 p.m., Officer John Agan of the Linton Police Department responded to the Walmart store in Linton for a trespassing complaint.

When Officer Agan arrived, a Walmart Asset Protection Associate said Pettus had been trespassed from the property in 2015 but had been walking back and forth on the walkway in front of the front entrances for more than an hour.

Officer Agan located Pettus who allegedly said he knew he had been trespassed from all Walmart property but he didn’t know he could not be in the parking lot. Pettus said he was just there because he wanted to use their WiFi connection and that he had no intention of entering the store.

Pettus was not arrested at that time but a criminal case was filed against him and a summons was issued ordering him to appear in court for an initial hearing on a charge of criminal trespassing, a Class A misdemeanor.
