Thomas Dean Hunt Haseman, 29, Jasonville, was arrested by Officer Ryan Van Horn of the Jasonville Police Department early Saturday, March 23, after Haseman was pulled over in a traffic stop conducted by JPD Officer Skylar Scott.

Officer Scott initiated the stop of Haseman’s orange Subaru car on State Road 59 in Midland for speeding. Scott said Haseman was going 64 in a 45 mph zone and he said the vehicle was weaving and not staying in its lane.

Scott reported he could smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from Haseman.

Van Horn, the investigating officer, said when he arrived to assist on the scene, Haseman was leaning on the front of Scott’s patrol vehicle, using it for balance. Van Horn also reported smelling the odor of alcohol.

Haseman was transported to the Linton Police Department by Officer Scott for field sobriety testing, which he reportedly failed.

When Sgt. Logan Hobbs, a certified breath test operator, of the Linton Police Department administered a chemical test, Hobbs reported Haseman had an alcohol concentration of .268. The legal limit is .08.

In an interview with Officer Van Horn, Haseman allegedly said he had been drinking for three hours, about three beers, at the Uptown after drinking about four beers and eating fried green beans and hot wings at the Sportsman. Haseman allegedly admitted that he was under the influence of an alcoholic beverage.

Around 3 a.m., Haseman was booked in to the Greene County Jail where his bond was set at $4,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. He posted $400 cash, was released later the same day and scheduled to appear in Greene Superior Court in April when he will be formally charged with:

  • Operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person, a Class A misdemeanor,

  • Operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a Class C misdemeanor, and

  • Operating a vehicle with an alcohol concentration equivalent to .15 or more, a Class A misdemeanor.
