Jasonville couple arrested on drug charges
/A Jasonville couple was arrested on Sunday night and booked into jail. They’re both facing drug charges.
Stephanie Rayleen Elizabeth Myers, 24, and Chad Allen Myers, 26, both of Jasonville, were arrested by Deputy Jordan Allor of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department on Sunday night, August 16.
Around 7:30 that night, Deputy Allor was southbound on Meridian Street in Jasonville when he passed a 2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse and recognized the driver. It was Chad Myers and Deputy Allor know his driver’s license was suspended.
A traffic stop was initiated and Chad Myers allegedly shook his head in a yes motion when told his license was suspended. A records check showed he had a prior conviction for driving while suspended and that he’s not eligible for a license.
Stephanie Myers was a passenger in the vehicle and after Sgt. Brian Pilant of the Jasonville Police Department arrived to assist, both were asked to exit the vehicle. When told the vehicle was going to be towed, Stephanie asked to get her purse and was allowed to do that but when she did, Sgt. Pilant saw her put a smoking device inside the purse. Consequently, the purse was searched.
Sgt. Pilant reported he found five smoking devices believed to be used for marijuana in the purse and one smoking device believed to be used for methamphetamine, plus some green plant material believed to be synthetic marijuana and a digital scale with white residue that field-tested positive as methamphetamine.
When the vehicle was inventoried, Deputy Allor reported finding a small baggie with 8-ball logos and a white powder residue that field-tested positive as meth, another smoking device in the shape of a handgun and another plastic bag with white powder residue.
Both were transported to the Greene County Jail. Once there, another bag with a white crystal substance was found in the pocket of Chad Myers – it field-tested as methamphetamine.
They were booked in between 9:30 and 10 p.m. and both were held without bond pending court appearances.
The dates of their initial hearings are not yet known but when they appear in Greene Superior Court:
Chad Myers will be formally charged with possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony, and driving while suspended – a knowing violation with a prior conviction within 10 years, a Class A misdemeanor; and
Stephanie Myers will be formally charged with possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony, possession of a controlled substance, a Class A misdemeanor, and possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.
