Eric Von Peterson, 45, Bloomfield, was charged with invasion of privacy in violation of a protective order, a Class A misdemeanor, when he appeared in court Wednesday, February 4, for an initial hearing.

Peterson was arrested in October, 2020, by Deputy Marshal Brittany Ingram of the Bloomfield Police Department after several officers responded to a domestic dispute in Bloomfield. Peterson was accused of threatening to kill a woman and shooting the walls in their residence. (A story about the incident was posted on GreeneStreets and can be found by clicking the tag “Eric Von Peterson” below this story.)

Peterson was charged with:

  • Domestic battery, a Class A misdemeanor,

  • Criminal recklessness – shoots a firearm into a building, a Level 5 felony,

  • Intimidation, with a deadly weapon, a Level 5 felony, and

  • Pointing a firearm at another, a Level 6 felony.

Peterson’s bond was set at $25,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed but he didn’t post bond and in another case that was pending against him, his bond was revoked.

In the other case, (which was not covered by GreeneStreets), he was arrested in May, 2020, and charged with:

  • Operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person, a Class A misdemeanor,

  • Operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a Class C misdemeanor,

  • Operating a vehicle with an alcohol concentration equivalent to .15 or more, a Class A misdemeanor,

  • Resisting law enforcement with a deadly weapon, a Level 6 felony, and

  • Resisting law enforcement – knowingly or intentionally forcibly resists, a Class A misdemeanor.

After his arrest in the domestic dispute, his bond in the OVWI case was revoked.

When Peterson was in court for the domestic, he was served with a protective order, ordering him to have no contact with the alleged victim in the case.

Peterson is now accused of making several contacts in violation of that order.

Officer Ingram has been investigating.

Peterson allegedly sent letters from the jail to the protected person on at least three different dates in late December and early January. He is also accused of making numerous phone calls to the protected person, also in late December and early January.

His bond in the latest case has been set at $25,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed, but he is still being held without bond in the OVWI case and he remains in the Greene County Jail.
