I-69 speeder clocked at 105.6 mph

A driver accused of going over 105 mph while traveling on I-69 through Greene County is being summoned to appear in court to face a misdemeanor charge of reckless driving.

Amadou Diallo, 38, Evansville, is accused of reckless driving on I-69.

Diallo was the driver of a silver 2009 Toyota Highlander southbound on I-69 when he was stopped by Indiana State Police Master Trooper John Yung around 6:30 a.m. on Monday, June 15.

Trooper Yung reported the vehicle appeared to be going a lot faster than the 70 mph limit and when he first tracked it via moving radar, it was going 109 mph.

When the trooper got behind the vehicle and tried to catch-up, the vehicle was in the left lane passing other vehicles at high speed.

Heading toward Daviess County, when he eventually closed in on the vehicle, he got another reading via Vascar radar.

Trooper Yung said Vascar is an accurate measuring and speed timing device and he tracked the vehicle for .3017 miles with a time of 10.27 seconds for a rate of speed at 105.6 mph.

Diallo had a driver’s license from New York but said he lived and worked in Evansville. He requested leniency. He got a citation.

Diallo is facing a charge of reckless driving at unreasonable speed that endangers safety, a Class C misdemeanor. He is being summoned to appear in Greene Superior Court early on July 30 for an initial hearing.
