Fishers woman accused of making a “drop” in Jasonville

When a Fishers woman arrived in Jasonville to make a “drop” of contraband intended for an offender on an outside work crew from the Wabash Valley Correction Facility, she encountered a number of officers who were expecting her.

Amy Elizabeth Unger

Amy Elizabeth Unger, 51, Fishers, Ind., was arrested by Deputy Sgt. Jordan Allor of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department yesterday, Monday, December 13.

Unger was taken into custody on a warrant that was issued for her arrest last Thursday as a result of an investigation led by Correctional Police Officer (CPO) Travis Davis from the Indiana Departmen of Correction (DOC).

In a probable cause affidavit prepared by CPO Davis, he said that in October, he was advised by a DOC intelligence analyst that she had information that an offender housed at the Wabash Valley Correctional Facility (WVCF) had communicated with Unger, who was a civilian residing in Fishers. The analyst had reason to believe Unger had just left her home in Fishers and was headed to Jasonville to make a “drop.”

The intelligence included information about the location of the drop – the water department on Main Street in Jasonville as well as two big blue water tanks. Officer Davis said a work crew from WVCF was scheduled to work at that location the next day.

Upon receiving this information, CPO Davis contacted CPO Keven Allen, DOC’s Southern Regional Manager, who in turn contacted the Jasonville Police Department to alert the on-duty officers of the situation that was unfolding. JPD officers agreed to assist with surveillance. CPOs Davis, Allen and F. Vanihel then traveled to Jasonville to wait for Unger in an unmarked vehicle just outside Jasonville.

A JPD officer then spotted Unger headed toward Jasonville from the Clay City area and followed her but lost sight of her vehicle due to other traffic. The CPOs then saw Unger entering Jasonville but were not able to follow due to other traffic.

Not long after, Unger was spotted on State Road 48 headed back towards Clay City. She was being followed by a Clay County Sheriff’s Deputy when she allegedly committed a traffic violation and was pulled over in a traffic stop near Clay City.

The three CPOs showed up on the scene during the traffic stop and questioned Unger who allegedly admitted she had bought two packages of Delta 8 THC Gummies with a count of 16 in each package. She also admitted this was the second time she had delivered the gummies for an offender to pick up. The other time was a couple of weeks earlier at a location in Farmersburg. Unger allegedly admitted she had placed the gummies at the water department in Jasonville.

JPD Officer Andrew Duguay then went to the location of the water department on Main Street and recovered a white bag containing the gummies.

It’s not clear whether Unger was taken into custody or not during the traffic stop, but she was booked into the Greene County Jail at 3:34 p.m. yesterday, with bond set at $4,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. She posted $400 and was released later the same day.

Unger is scheduled to appear in Greene Superior Court for her initial hearing on January 3. She is facing a charge of trafficking with an inmate outside a facility. It’s a Level 6 felony.
