Fatal crash under investigation
/The Greene County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a fatal crash that occurred Friday afternoon near mile marker 27 on North State Road 45.
At approximately 2:40 p.m., deputies responded to a head-on collision involving a 2010 Chrysler Town and Country driven by William Brand, 41, of Bedford, and a 2021 Ford F-450 driven by Michael Kieft, 49, of Bloomfield.
According to preliminary reports, Brand was traveling northbound on State Road 45 when his vehicle collided head-on with Kieft’s vehicle.
Brand was pronounced deceased at the scene. Kieft was transported by Greene County EMS to IU Health Bloomington Hospital with injuries that are currently unknown.
The crash remains under investigation by Greene County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Andrew Weeks with assistance from the Indiana State Police, Eastern Greene School Police, Eastern Greene Fire Department, Greene County EMS, and the Greene County Coroner’s Office.
