Emergency Management Agency shares info ahead of winter storm
/The National Weather Service today said, “Confidence is growing for a stronger Winter Storm impacting Central Indiana on Sunday into Monday,” according to Greene County Emergency Management Agency Director Roger Axe.
That being the case we advise you to prepare by getting your errands run on Saturday. That includes having plenty of food, fuel, and medication on hand. If we do have a Winter Storm, we ask that only necessary driving take place.
Also, if you must travel keep these items in mind:
Slow down and adjust travel to conditions, especially on snow-covered roads
Never tailgate or drive beside a snow plow as the driver’s visibility may be limited
The safest place on the road during a winter storm is behind a snowplay, but if you must pass, do so carefully
Be prepared case of a crash and becoming stranded; always carry an emergency kit in your vehicle with food, water, a phone charger, sand or cat litter, flares or bright LED alternatives, a flightlight, and blankets
Keep your vehicle fill of gas
Keep a shovel in your car to dig out around your tires and tailpipe if needed
Make sure your vehicle battery is strong, fluids are at the appropriate levels, and your spare tire if properly inflated
Don’t forget gas line anti-freeze for your vehicles
Leave a stream of water running so your pipes will not freeze or freeze and bust.
