Elsewhere: Carlisle man arrested for animal cruelty
/Sullivan County - The Indiana State Police recently conducted an investigation into an animal cruelty case located near Carlisle, Indiana. The investigation began after receiving complaints from local citizens, and the Sullivan County Department of Child Services, of a deceased canine discovered along a rural county road.
On January 29, 2021, Master Trooper Detective Angie Hahn of the Putnamville State Police Post initiated a criminal investigation about the discovery of a deceased canine near a county road in Carlisle. During the course of the investigation, it was discovered that Alexander J. Keene, age 40, of Carlisle, Indiana, had become furious with the family canine. As a result of his anger, he struck the canine several times and roughly threw it to the ground, fatally injuring the canine. Keene then left the residence with the deceased animal, disposing of its body along a county road.
At the conclusion of the investigation, the case was presented to Sullivan County Prosecutor Ann Smith-Mischler and charges were filed against Alexander J. Keene. The defendant was arrested today without incident and has posted bond.
