Early Wednesday traffic stop in Linton ends in arrest
/After a K9 alerted to the presence of controlled substances during a traffic stop on Wednesday, a Linton man was arrested on a drug charge.
Jeremiah Edward Damron, 35, Linton, was arrested by Officer John Agan of the Linton Police Department very early yesterday, Wednesday, March 18. Damron was booked in to the Greene County Jail around 2:40 a.m. and was being held without bond pending court appearance.
Officer Agan was on duty in Linton around 1:45 a.m. when he saw a gray 1991 Chevrolet pickup truck cross the center line as it was westbound on A Street NE near 5th Street NE. He initiated a traffic stop.
Damron was the driver and after LPD Officer Joe Riley arrived with his K9 partner Kona to assist, Kona performed a sniff around the vehicle and alerted.
Officer Agan reported that officers found a yellow toboggan hat on the dashboard with a clear plastic baggie inside. The baggie contained a white crystal substance that field tested positive as methamphetamine.
Damron allegedly admitted the baggie belonged to him.
Damron is facing a preliminary charge of possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony.
