A Linton man is facing charges of driving while intoxicated and driving while suspended after a deputy stopped him for a license plate that expired in 2015.

Nathan Daniel Barden, 32, Linton, was arrested by Deputy Jordan Allor of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department early last Thursday, May 7, following a traffic stop late the night before.

Barden was the driver of a black and teal 1995 Ford Aspire that was headed west on Linton’s A Street close to County Road 1100 West when he was stopped by Deputy Allor around 10:55 p.m. The vehicle had a license plate that expired in 2015 along with an improper headlight and no license plate light.

A records check revealed Barden’s license was suspended and Deputy Allor reported he exhibited signs of intoxication.

Deputy Allor reported Barden failed standard field sobriety tests and the results from a portable breath test indicated he had a BAC of .081. The legal limit is .08. Barden refused to submit to a chemical test. A search warrant was approved and at 1 a.m. a blood sample was obtained – results are pending.

Barden was booked in with bond set at $9,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. He has since posted bond and been released from jail.

Barden is facing preliminary charges of:

Operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a prior conviction within seven years, a Level 6 felony,
Operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a Class C misdemeanor, and
Driving while suspended – a knowing violation with a prior conviction within 10 years, a Class A misdemeanor.
