Driver in Labor Day crash ends up in jail
/After crashing his truck into a ditch on Lone Tree Rd on Labor Day, a Linton man is facing OVWI charges after he tested with a blood alcohol concentration of .212.
Ty Trell Hatton, 48, Linton, was arrested by Officer Alan Jackson of the Linton Police Department on Monday, September 5.
At 4:44 PM on Labor Day, Officer Jackson was dispatched to a crash involving one vehicle on County Road 1000 West near Stockton Building Supply. When he arrived on the scene, he found a gray 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 on its side in a ditch off the east side of the roadway.
Hatton was the driver with one passenger on board. No injuries were reported.
Hatton allegedly told the officer he was driving and when he went to light a cigarette, the next thing he knew, the truck was in the ditch. The officer reported Hatton’s eyes were red and bloodshot and he showed other signs of impairment including emitting the odor of an alcoholic beverage.
The passenger was released from the scene but Hatton was transported to the Linton Police Department for standardized field sobriety testing which did not go well for him but he agreed to take a chemical test. During the chemical test Hatton allegedly admitted to drinking four or five beers prior to driving. Officer Jackson reported test results showed he had an alcohol concentration of .212. The legal limit is .08.
Patton was arrested and booked into the Greene County Jail at 6:52 PM where his bond was set at $4000 surety with 10% cash allowed.
A criminal case was filed in Greene Superior Court earlier today. Hatton is facing charges of:
Operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person, a Class A misdemeanor,
Operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a Class C misdemeanor, and
Operating a vehicle with an alcohol concentration equivalent to .15 or more, a Class A misdemeanor.
