Deadline approaching for Greene County school board candidates
/Time is running out for individuals interested in serving on their local school board.
The deadline to file for candidacy in the 2026 school board election is noon on Thursday, June 18, according to the Greene County Voter Registration Office.
Candidates filed as of 4 p.m. June 11.
School board members serve four-year terms and play a key role in shaping district policies, overseeing budgets, and supporting educational programs.
Candidates must file both a CAN-12 and CAN-34 form with the Greene County Voter Registration Office, located in Room 225 on the second floor of the Greene County Courthouse in Bloomfield.
As part of the filing process, candidates are required to collect at least 10 signatures from registered voters who reside within their respective school board district. Those signatures must be submitted on the CAN-34 form.
Under a new Indiana law, school board candidates are also required to declare a political party affiliation or indicate they are an independent candidate when filing for office.
