Larry Dewayne Pierce, 49, Worthington, was in court last Thursday for an initial hearing following his latest arrest by Deputy Alan Jackson of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department on Saturday, November 2.

In this case, Pierce was charged with possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony, and possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.

Deputy Jackson was on patrol in Worthington on Saturday, November 2, when he thought he saw Pierce so he stopped. Deputy Jackson was familiar with Pierce and knew a Writ of Attachment had been issued for him in a case involving child support.

Deputy Jackson reported that Pierce wanted to give his personal belongings located on his person to a family member since he was going to jail and the deputy allowed that. But Deputy Jackson said during the exchange, he noticed Pierce handing off a clear tube with a white powder substance inside. Deputy Jackson retrieved the tube and handed it to another deputy.

Deputy David Elmore and Deputy Michael Coy had both arrived on the scene to assist, and Deputy Elmore reported the tube field-tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine.

Pierce was booked into jail on the Writ and on the new drug charge.

Pierce was also arrested by Deputy Jackson back on Friday, October 18, when Deputy Jackson was dispatched to a domestic. Pierce was booked into the Greene County Jail, bonded out, then was charged with two counts of domestic battery, both Class A misdemeanors. That case is still pending against him.

A third case is pending against Pierce in Owen County. He was arrested in early September then was charged with possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony, possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor, and possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor. In that case, he’s scheduled to be back in court in Owen County in December.

In the latest case against Pierce, during last Thursday’s court hearing, his bond was set at $25,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. As of Tuesday evening, November 12, Pierce had not yet posted bond and remained in the Greene County Jail.
