Body of Bloomfield man recovered from private lake

Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating after the body of a Bloomfield man was recovered from a private lake Saturday in Greene County. 

At approximately 10:38 a.m., Indiana Conservation Officers were contacted by the Greene County Sherrif’s Department Dispatch and advised of a possible person in the water near the 8900 block of Sassafras Road in Bloomfield after footprints were found leading to a hole in the ice. 

Eastern Greene Fire Territory located a cell phone on the top of the ice using an unmanned arial vehicle.

At 1:17 p.m., Indiana Conservation Officer divers recovered the body of Louis W. White, 83, from 14 feet of water.

Assisting agencies include the Eastern Greene Fire Territory, Greene County Sherriff’s Department, Greene County Emergency Medical Services, and the Greene County Coroner’s Office.
