One dead after two men fall through the ice at Hillenbrand Fish and Wildlife Area
/ Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating after two men fell through the ice yesterday on Beaver Dam Lake.
At approximately 5:57 p.m., the Greene County Sherif’s Department Dispatch received a call stating that two men had fallen through the ice on Beaver Dam Lake in Hillenbrand Fish and Wildlife Area.
Jasonville Police Officer Skylar Scott arrived on scene at approximately 6:04 p.m. and was able to rescue Cordell A. Foster, 20, utilizing a rope throw bag.
It was discovered that the second victim, Justin D. Sprang, 20, had went under the water and never resurfaced.
At approximately 8:21 p.m., Conservation Officer divers, utilizing an underwater remote operated vehicle, located and recovered the body of Sprang in 16 feet of water.
Assisting agencies include the Jasonville Police Department, Worthington Police Department, Linton Police Department, Greene County Sherriff’s Department, Greene County Emergency Medical Services, Linton Fire Department, Wright Township Fire Department and the Greene County Coroner’s Office.
