Bloomington man charged with four counts of felony nonsupport
/A Bloomington man is facing four felony charges after allegedly failing to pay more than $24,000 in court-ordered child support over a span of more than a decade.
Keith Allen King, 48, has been formally charged with four counts of nonsupport of a child, all Level 6 felonies, in Greene Superior Court. The case, filed April 2, stems from a long-standing failure to meet child support obligations established in 2011.
According to an affidavit filed by Greene County Prosecutor’s Office Investigator Julie Criger, King was ordered to pay $70 per week in child support for two children following a March 2011 divorce decree from the children’s mother. Despite multiple court orders issued over the years—most recently in February 2025—King has reportedly remained largely noncompliant.
During a recorded interview conducted March 7, 2025, at the prosecutor’s office, the mother said King has not been involved in the children’s lives, financially or otherwise. She stated that he did not consistently visit or contribute gifts or other support beyond the required child support.
The mother told investigators that King has not maintained steady employment since 2010, although he has worked intermittently for various companies, including Dragon Lawn Care, Yellow Cab, and as an ironworker. She also said he allegedly worked "under the table" to avoid income reporting.
Greene County Child Support Case Manager Kelsey Pilant confirmed that King had been under multiple orders to pay support since 2011. Court records show King failed to make regular payments and accumulated a total arrearage of $24,727.35 as of February 28, 2025.
Of that amount, $22,661.62 is owed directly to the custodial parent, while $2,065.73 has been assigned to the State of Indiana.
The investigation also revealed King may have placed a $10,000 camper in his daughter’s name in an apparent attempt to shield assets. Meanwhile, the mother reported working consistently to support her family, often missing her children's events due to financial constraints.
King was arrested and transported to the Greene County Jail. His bond was set at $24,727 with 10% cash allowed.
He was scheduled to appear in Greene Superior Court for an initial hearing on May 20.
