Jamie Lee Curry, 39, Bloomington, was arrested last Friday, April 24, on a warrant for his arrest that was issued in mid-March. Curry’s bond was set at $4,000 surety with Aten percent cash allowed. He has since posted $400 and been released from custody.

Curry is facing a charge of theft, a Level 6 felony.

The warrant was issued as a result of an investigation by Officer Adam King of the Linton Police Department.

Officer King was dispatched to Walmart in Linton around 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 27, because store employees said they had stopped a man, later identified as Curry, who had been caught shoplifting.

When Officer King arrived, one of the store’s Asset Protection Associates said he had watched Curry select a television from the electronics department then speaker wire from the automotive department. He said Curry then went to the service desk and completed a transaction to receive cash for returning the items.

During a later interview at the police department, Curry allegedly admitted he would find receipts in the parking lots of stores, then use them as a shopping list. After selecting all of the items, he would then take them to the store’s service desk and return them to get cash.

Officer King reported the store provided him with video surveillance of the incident in the Linton store. The total value of the items involved in the transaction was $251.02.

Officer King also reported Curry’s record includes a previous conviction for theft in Monroe County in 2012.

Curry is currently scheduled to appear in Greene Superior Court for his initial hearing on May 14.
