Bloomfield man in custody on drug charges
/A man with a warrant out for his arrest quickly left a parking lot when a deputy pulled in but a couple of days later, he was taken into custody at his apartment.
Lloyd Robert Turpin, 47, Bloomfield, was arrested on Sunday night, November 10, by Bloomfield Deputy Marshal Jordan Allor.
A warrant was issued for Turpin’s arrest early in November when he failed to show up in court for an initial hearing on a misdemeanor charge for possession of marijuana.
Last Friday, November 8, Turpin was allegedly sitting in a car in a store parking lot when a deputy pulled into the lot. Turpin left the area.
A couple of days later, on Sunday, November 10, BPD Deputy Marshal Jordan Allor, BPD Deputy Marshal Ryan Montgomery and Greene County Sheriff’s Deputy Alan Jackson were knocking on the door of Turpin’s apartment to arrest him.
Officer Allor reported that when Turpin opened the door, he was holding a bag that contained a container that contained a piece of cotton. Turpin was handcuffed and when searched, he was asked about the cotton. The officer said he believed it was used in ingesting methamphetamine or another substance. Officer Allor reported that later on at the jail, the cotton field-tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine.
Also at the jail, Turpin complained of pain in an arm and showed Officer Allor an area near the inner elbow that appeared to be infected. A jail officer took a look at Turpin’s arm and said Turpin could not be accepted into the jail until he was cleared by a hospital. Turpin was transported to Greene County General Hospital for medical attention and after he was cleared, transported back and booked into jail.
When Turpin appears in court, there will be a hearing charging him with possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor, in the earlier case. In a new case, he’ll be facing a charge of possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony.
