David John Hoover, 29, was booked in to the Greene County Jail on a warrant that was issued on April 26 as a result of a domestic incident that occurred on April 23.

The investigating officer, Greene County Sheriff’s Deputy Camron Frye, responded to a domestic dispute call in Owensburg on April 23 at a residence where Hoover had been living with the alleged victim in this case. The jail log listed Hoover with a Spencer address but the court record now shows him with a home address in Bloomfield.

When Frye arrived at the home, he spoke with the victim and other family members including a juvenile who had witnessed an altercation. Hoover had taken one child and had left the home before Frye arrived.

While there, Frye learned the victim was pregnant and had allegedly been battered by Hoover who choked her then pushed her down. Hoover was also accused of breaking an item in the home and knocking a hole in a wall.

An ambulance was called to check on the pregnant woman and they transported her to IU Health Bloomington for evaluation.

GCSD Deputies Davis Aerne and David Elmore assisted in this investigation along with Indiana State Police Trooper Wagner. A family case manager from the Department of Child Services was also on the scene to check on the welfare of the children.

During an initial hearing in Greene Circuit Court last Thursday, Hoover was charged with domestic battery with bodily injury to a pregnant woman, a Level 5 felony, and strangulation – pregnant victim, also a Level 5 felony.

His bond was set at $20,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. He has since posted bond and been released.
