Tyler Ray Gadberry, 34, Bloomfield, was arrested by Deputy Camron Frye of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department on Sunday, March 7. Gadberry was taken into custody on a warrant that was issued following an investigation by Deputy Marshal Wayman JR Blazier of the Bloomfield Police Department.

On Monday, February 22, around 1:22 a.m., Officer Blazier was dispatched to a residence on South John Street in Bloomfield after a 911 caller said a woman with two children at the residence had texted a message asking someone call 911. A violent domestic situation was in progress between the woman and her ex-boyfriend, Tyler Gadberry. Both were residing at the residence trying to co-parent.

When Officer Blazier arrived and was walking up to the front door, he could see Gadberry walking around the front room of the house and when he got closer, he saw Gadberry “walk in an aggressive manner” and he could hear the woman crying for help.

When Officer Blazier stepped onto the front stoop, Gadberry saw the officer through the glass and ran from the room toward the back of the residence. Officer Blazier tried to enter, but the front door had a chain lock on the door. He broke through the door.

Officer Blazier yelled at Gadberry and went through to the back of the house where he found the back door open and saw footsteps in the snow leading around the residence.

Officer Blazier said he didn’t want to leave the woman and children in case Gadberry came back. He radioed dispatch and advised Gadberry was running through an alley toward a gas station.

When talking to the alleged victim, she was extremely upset. One of the children said, “Daddy threw Mommy down.” The woman said Gadberry had been drinking and had gotten upset and started hitting her and holding her down. At one point when she went into a bathroom to try and hide from him, Gadberry allegedly kicked in the door.

Photographs were taken of the woman’s injuries which included a large, dark purple bruise on her right arm, several bruise marks that appeared to be fingerprints on her left arm and bruising to her nose.

The woman gathered some belongings with the officer’s assistance and she left the residence with the children.

Gadberry was not arrested that night, but the Greene County Prosecutor’s Office filed a criminal case against him in Greene Superior Court last Friday, March 5. A warrant for Gadberry’s arrest was issued the same day.

Gadberry was taken into custody over the weekend. His bond was set at $4,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. He posted $400 and was released from jail.

When Gadberry appears in court for an initial hearing on March 18, he will be formally charged with domestic battery – where defendant has a prior unrelated conviction, a Level 6 felony.
