Bloomfield man accused of sticking knife in woman’s door

A woman called 911 last week and said a man with a knife was trying to break into her home. When a Bloomfield officer arrived, the man was standing on the steps, and there was a knife stuck in the door.

Gabriel Dion Myers, 31, of Bloomfield, was arrested by Deputy Marshal Wayman JR Blazier of the Bloomfield Police Department early last Monday, November 1.

Around 12:50 a.m. last Monday, Officer Blazier responded to a residence in Bloomfield after a woman called Greene County Dispatch and said Myers had a big knife and was using it, trying to break into her home.

Myers was standing on the front stairway to the residence with the knife still stuck in the door when Officer Blazier got there. Myers pulled the knife out of the door and threw it on the ground when Officer Blazier told him to drop it and put his hands up against a wall. Myers was then handcuffed.

According to Officer Blazier, Myers had been trespassed from the residence the day before by Greene County Sheriff’s Deputy Harvey Holt who told Myers he could not be at the residence.

The caller and the homeowner both said Myers did not live there. Officer Blazier took photographs of the knife and the damage to the front door where the knife was stuck.

Myers was booked into the Greene County Jail at 1:16 a.m. with bond first set low at $1,500 surety with ten percent cash allowed. That changed when he went before a judge.

When Myers appeared in Greene Superior Court for his initial hearing last Tuesday, he was charged with: Criminal trespassing, a Class A misdemeanor, and criminal mischief, a Class B misdemeanor; and his bond was increased to $20,000 surety with ten percent. He hasn’t posted bond and is still in jail.

His criminal history includes other cases but they have all been concluded. To read previous stories on GreeneStreets, click on the Tag “Gabriel Dion Myers” below this story.
