Bradley J. Bohnert, 46, Linton, was arrested by Officer Adam King of the Linton Police Department early Monday, March 1. Bohnert was booked into the Greene County Jail at 2:15 a.m.

Bohnert was the driver of a brown 2015 Toyota Tacoma that failed to dim its lights and was stopped at 12:54 a.m. Monday at the intersection of State Road 54 and Price Road.

During the stop, Bohnert exhibited suspicious behavior and Officer King requested assistance from LPD Officer Joe Riley and his K9 partner Kona. When K9 Kona was deployed, Kona alerted at the driver’s side door.

During a search of the vehicle, Officer Riley found a Ziploc bag containing a white powder substance that field-tested positive as cocaine, another Ziploc bag containing a white crystal substance that field-tested positive as methamphetamine, and another Ziploc bag containing five pills identified as Alprazolam, a controlled substance. Officer King found a box containing six syringes. The suspected cocaine and meth are being sent to the ISP lab for analysis – results pending.

Bohnert’s driver’s license was suspended and he was convicted of driving while suspended in 2017 in Knox County. Bohnert also had a warrant out for his arrest that was issued out of LaPorte County in a case of misdemeanor battery that dates back to 2011. Following conviction with a suspended sentence, he was on probation in 2013 but the probation department filed a petition to revoke his suspended sentence and a warrant was issued in October of 2013. The warrant’s been outstanding since then, and LaPorte County declined to extradite him on that warrant.

Bohnert’s criminal record in LaPorte County in years past includes criminal cases filed against him on charges ranging from felony theft and forgery to battery, disorderly conduct and public intoxication.

Bohnert’s criminal record in Greene County in more recent years incudes criminal cases filed against him on charges of intimidation, operating a vehicle while intoxicated, invasion of privacy in violation of a protective order and felony theft charges.

Bohnert was being held in the Greene County Jail without bond pending court appearance. The date for his initial hearing has not been set and as of late Tuesday, he was still in custody.

When he appears in Greene Superior Court, he will be formally charged with:

  • Possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony,

  • Possession of a narcotic drug, a Level 6 felony,

  • Unlawful possession of syringe, a Level 6 felony,

  • Possession of a controlled substance, a Class A misdemeanor, and

  • Driving while suspended – a knowing violation with a prior conviction within 10 years, a Class A misdemeanor.

Following Bohnert’s arrest in Greene County very early Monday, later in the day a criminal case was filed against Bohnert in Sullivan County on a preliminary charge of battery by means of a deadly weapon, a Level 5 felony, that allegedly occurred on Sunday, February 28.

Earlier today, a warrant for his arrest was issued out of Sullivan County, specifying that when he is in custody in Sullivan County, his bond will be set at $15,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed.
