Another warrant out for Sandborn man with three cases pending in Greene County, one in Vigo

A Sandborn man was arrested in September after a caller reported he was lying in the middle of a county roadway. He’s been in court, been transferred to Vigo County, and now has three cases pending against him in Greene County with another arrest warrant issued last week.

Jonathon Douglas Blackwell, Sandborn, was arrested by Sgt. Bobby Pierce of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department on Thursday, September 17. Blackwell, 31 at the time of this arrest, is now 32.

Since his arrest, he’s been in court for an initial hearing and then posted bond, but he was transferred out of Greene County to the Vigo County Jail.

Blackwell appeared in court in Vigo County yesterday, October 5, in a case involving possession of a syringe, a Level 6 felony, and giving a false identity statement with the intent to mislead law enforcement officials, a Class A misdemeanor.

Back in May of 2019, Blackwell was arrested after the Linton Police Department got a complaint about a man with no shirt walking in Linton who was shouting and causing a disturbance. This time, on the day of Blackwell’s arrest in September, the Greene County Sheriff’s Department got a call about a man walking on County Road 300 South near Lyons. The caller said the man was waving his arms and acting odd.

Before deputies could get there, GCSD got a second call about the man, later identified as Blackwell. The caller said Blackwell was lying in the roadway and would not move. Blackwell was wearing white shorts with no shirt.

Sgt. Pierce responded and found Blackwell walking along the side of CR 225 South. Blackwell said he was walking home from work and was going to Sandborn.

Sgt. Pierce offered Blackwell a courtesy ride but informed him that he would have to be checked to make sure he didn’t have any weapons. Blackwell allegedly then admitted he had a meth pipe in his pocket.

Blackwell was detained and handed the deputy the smoking device which contained a white residue.

During a search prior to transport, Blackwell was allegedly found in possession of another smoking device which he said was a “weed” pipe.

The white residue in the first smoking device field-tested positive as methamphetamine.

Blackwell was booked into the Greene County Jail where he was held without bond pending court appearance.

During his initial hearing, Blackwell was charged with possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony, and possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor, and his bond was set at $10,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. After the hearing, he posted $1,000 but he had a warrant out for his arrest in Vigo County so he was transported. In the Vigo County case, his bond was set at $10,000 cash only, no ten percent allowed.

But there’s more cases pending against him. In addition to the latest case, he has another case pending in Greene County involving felony possession of methamphetamine that dates back to March of 2019.

Last week, in that earlier meth case in Greene County, a warrant was issued for Blackwell’s arrest on a petition to revoke his suspended sentence for an alleged probation violation.
