Phillip Paul Osborn, 36, Linton, was arrested by Officer Janzen Franklin of the Linton Police Department early last Thursday, March 18, following an incident that occurred late Wednesday, March 17.

Osborn was booked into the Greene County Jail at 12:33 a.m. with bond set at $1,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. He has since posted $100, been released and is scheduled to appear in Greene Superior Court for an initial hearing next Monday afternoon, March 29.

The Greene County Sheriff’s Department got a 911 call around 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 17. A dispatcher could hear people yelling in the background and was able to determine the call was coming from a residence on 7th Street SE in Linton. Officer Franklin was dispatched.

When Officer Franklin arrived at the residence, he could hear the yelling coming from behind the house and he found a man, later identified as Osborn, and a woman both behind the house. LPD Sgt. Logan Hobbs also responded and the man was told to walk over by Sgt. Hobbs while Officer Franklin talked to the woman.

The woman said when she confronted Osborn about having alcoholic beverages in her home, he started yelling at her then when her husband heard the commotion, he came in and the two men got into a verbal altercation. When her husband walked away into a bedroom, Osborn allegedly followed him, pushed him onto a bed then hit him in the face. She said she stepped in between the two men. Her husband had blood coming from his nose.

LPD Officer Bobby Pierce also responded to assist and reported Osborn confirmed there was a verbal altercation that escalated quickly and became “very slightly” physical. He alleged the husband was pushing on him and he reacted but he would not go into detail about his reaction.

Osborn was taken into custody and transported to the Greene County Jail.

A criminal case was filed against Osborn on Monday. He is facing a preliminary charge of domestic battery, a Class A misdemeanor.
