Accused child molester in court in second case pending against him

A man accused of child molesting, arrested last Sunday, was in court today in another case pending against him. It’s a misdemeanor case stemming from his wallet and blood being found in a vehicle that was for sale, sitting on highway 54 east of Bloomfield.

Jimmy Lee England, 44, of Lyons, was arrested last Sunday and has since been charged with child molesting in court yesterday. Today he appeared in court in a second case.

Deputy James Carpenter of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department was the investigating officer in the misdemeanor case.

On September 8, around 11:30 a.m., a man who lives on East State Road 54, Bloomfield, called the sheriff’s department about a Jeep he was selling. He had the Jeep parked in his front yard and that morning, there was blood in the Jeep. There was also a man’s wallet with Jimmy England’s identification.

When Deputy Carpenter arrived at his house, the man said he was trying to sell the Jeep for a family member. He said he found the driver’s seat was leaned back, with blood in the seat, and the wallet. Deputy Carpenter took photographs and swabs of the blood.

Then Carpenter talked to Indiana State Police Trooper Caleb Garvin who had stopped to check on England around midnight on September 7-8 when he saw England walking on State Road 54 near Sylvania Road. Trooper Garvin said England was covered in dried blood. England allegedly said he’d been in a physical altercation with another man. England didn’t want medical attention and walked on.

There was also another incident when officers had contact with England. Around 11:30 p.m. on September 6, GCSD Deputy Zach Goad was dispatched to an area on State Road 54 about a man walking northbound yelling. Allegedly it was England. After Deputy Goad arrived, he did not talk to England but another individual was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated. The one who was arrested claimed England had been driving his vehicle.

All three of these incidents are in the area where the Jeep was for sale. Deputy Carpenter said the two encounters plus the wallet in the Jeep placed England in the area.

A criminal case was filed against England in Greene Superior Court and a summons was issued ordering England to appear in court today, Thursday, October 31. But before that hearing could take place, England was arrested last Sunday, October 27, so the hearing was rescheduled.

England was charged with child molesting, a Level 1 felony, yesterday, Wednesday, October 30, in Greene Circuit Court.

England was charged with unauthorized entry of a motor vehicle, a Class B misdemeanor, today, Thursday, October 31, in Greene Superior Court.
