Thelma Turpin
/Thelma Turpen, age 93, of Linton, passed away peacefully at 5:35 am on Monday, September 6, 2021, at Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care in Terre Haute. She was born in Sullivan on September 5, 1928 the daughter of John & Eula (McCammon) Walters.
She loved being a homemaker and greatly enjoyed her family and reading. After her children were grown, she went to work at the Sullivan hospital and Miller’s Merry Manor. She attended Dugger First Christian Church.
Thelma is survived by her loving children, Denny (Judy) Turpen of Terre Haute, Kaye (Mike) Moore of Dugger and Danny (Celeste) Turpen of Greencastle; grandchildren, Alicia (Jeremy) Breedlove, Nicki (Jeff) Franklin, Heather (Jason) Shafford, Traci (Kerry) Foglesong, Travis (Emily) Turpen and Brooke (Will) Wimmer; 14 great grandchildren; 9 great great grandchildren; one great great great grandchild; sisters, Gert Land, Mary Delph, Karen (Johnny) Ballard, Rick (Phillis) Walters and sister-in-law, Darlene (Dale) Padgett.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 70 years, Lloyd Turpen; granddaughter, Tina Walker; sister, Frieda Mobley and brothers, Virgil, Bob, Herman and Bill Walters.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 with Brother Jerry Carmichael officiating. Burial will follow at Dugger Cemetery in Dugger.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 from 5:00 – 8:00 pm and on Wednesday from 9:00 am until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dugger First Christian Church or Dugger Church of Christ through the funeral home.
