Ronald E. Westfall

Ronald E. Westfall, age 82, of Linton, formerly of Illinois, passed away peacefully at 8:32 A.M. on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at Greene County General Hospital in Linton. He was born in Edwardsport on May 18, 1939, the son of Graydon & Virginia Ruth (Helderman) Westfall.

Ron served in the U.S. Army. He worked in accounts payable for Texaco / Shell Oil which took he and his family from Indiana to Illinois, and then Texas. He retired after thirty-six years with the company, and soon began a second career with Walmart in 1999 in Plano, IL. He worked full-time and recently moved to Linton, Indiana, where he currently remained full-time. He was a hard worker and was loved by many. He was a member of the Harvest Chapel Church of Sandwich, Illinois.

Ron loved basketball, baseball, softball, throwing bags, and especially spending time with his son, Lee, playing video games. He spent many summers as an umpire for softball games. He and his wife, Connie, have fond memories of him playing softball when he was over age 60, when his team went to Nationals in Colorado and won the championship.

He is survived by his wife and high school sweetheart whom he married September 14, 1958, Connie Jean (Fiscus) Westfall of Linton, five daughters, Jana (Don) Gorman of Plano, IL, Lisa Kirk of Montgomery, IL, Debbie Cobb (Glenn Jochim) of North Aurora, IL, Michelle Fletcher of Porter, TX, and Nicole Westfall (D.J. Wilson) of Indianapolis, IN, two sons, William Westfall of TX and Lee Westfall of Linton, two brothers, Jerry Westfall of New Albany, IN and Stephen (Helen) Westfall of Ft. Smith, AK, ten grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law, Mike Kirk.

Graveside service will be held at Fairview Cemetery in Linton at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, January 6, 2022, with Chris Ferguson officiating.

Arrangements are in care of Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton.
