Norma Jean Sloan

Norma Jean Sloan, age 92, of Linton, formerly of Mitchell, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 11, 2020, at Glenburn Home. She was born in Mitchell on June 10, 1927, the daughter of Newton Andrew & Maude Liene (Smith)Taflinger.  

She was a homemaker, enjoying sewing, making afghans, baby blankets, and several items for her families and friends, and enjoyed spending winters in Tucson, Arizona.

She is survived by her husband whom she married August 5, 1946, Charles L. Sloan of Linton, three daughters, Karen Leigh (Brack) Coulter of Paoli, Barbara Jean (Dick) Morarity of Linton, and Myra Lynne (David) Kemp of Dunnellon, Florida, six grandchildren, Bryce and Bart Coulter, Matthew Morarity and Kimberly Raterman, and Jeffrey and Lisa Walton, a sister, Elizabeth Kay Taflinger of Atlanta, Georgia, and two brothers, James Taflinger of Paoli and Charles Edward Taflinger of Mitchell.  

She was preceded in death by her parents,two sisters, Elenora Ruth Graves and Anna Marie McCart, and her brother, Newton Taflinger.

Visitation will be held at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton on Monday, January 13, 2020, from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Graveside service will be held at Mitchell Cemetery in Mitchell at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, January 14, 2020, with Pastor Jeff Fulk officiating.
