Michael Reed McCafferty
/Michael Reed McCafferty of Worthington was born on July 18, 1944, in Seymour, Ind. He left this world peacefully on July 22, 2020, at the age of 76. He was the son of Lyle E. and Betty B. McCafferty, both are deceased.
He worked for Indiana Telephone for several years retiring from Verizon Telephone in 1996. He was Fire Chief in Worthington for several years and served on the Worthington Town Board for several years. He was a member of the Worthington First Baptist Church. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge (Greene Lodge No. 577) Worthington from 1983 until 2016.
He is survived by his wife Mae Bell McCafferty of 42 years; step-daughter Tammy Morgan of Worthington and step-son Larry Sage of Worthington; one daughter, Jamee Joe Fromee of St. Cloud, Florida; one granddaughter Hannah Elizabeth Sage of Worthington; three grandsons, Matthew, T. J. and Joshua of St. Cloud, Florida; three adopted grandsons, Zack King of Bloomfield, Jacob King of Camp LeJeune, North Carolina, and Nick Powell of Worthington; two sisters-in-law, Helen Roberts and Shirley Goble (Gene) and one brother-in-law, Arnold Goble, all of Scottsburg; two sisters, Lyla Sue Hagg of Washington and Kay Rousey of Evansville; two nieces, Julie Bullock and Jeff of Montgomery, and Christy and Chris Griffin of Evansville; one nephew, A. J. Rousey of Evansville; great niece and nephew Joshua and Jerrica Bullock of Montgomery; and three great nephews, Corbin and Oliver Griffin and Jameson Rousey of Evansville.
There will be a memorial service on Saturday, August 8, 2020, at 2 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall of the First Baptist Church at 113 Park Street in Worthington.
