Leota Mae Brinson

Leota Mae Brinson, 86, of Bloomfield, formerly of Sandborn, Indiana, went to Heaven, with her family by her side, at her home, on Sunday, May 26, 2024. She was born on December 13, 1937 in Long Beach, California to Chester and Helen V. (Martindale) Johnson. Leota married the love of her life, James E. Brinson, on April 8, 1956.

Leota was a member of the Sandborn United Methodist Church and then joined the Bloomfield United Methodist Church after moving to the area. She graduated from Sandborn High School in 1955. Leota served as President of the Sandborn Town Board from 2003 – 2007 and was a Past President of the United Methodist Women. She also served on the Bloomfield Housing Authority Board of Commissioners. Leota worked as an assembler at Thompson RCA in Bloomington, retiring in 1997 with 42 years of service.

Family left to cherish the memory of Leota include: two daughters, Cynthia Dawn Brinson of Linton and Carmen Denise (David) Jackson of Bloomfield; grandchildren, Kevin (Laura) Cross, Kyle (Grace) Cross, Clint (Karley) Cross, Matt Brinson, Casey Brinson and Caleb Brinson; great-grandchildren, Homer, Opal, Charlotte, Clara, Graham and Delaney; brother, Chet (Joyce) Johnson of Woodstock, VA; two sisters, Virginia (Phillip) Jackson of Jonesborough, TN and Mary Louise (Jim) Arms of Ellettsville, IN; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Leota was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, James Brinson; two sons, Michael Dean Brinson and Mark Dennis Brinson.

Funeral services to honor the life of Leota will be at 1:00 PM on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at Anderson-Poindexter Chapel with Chris Gehring officiating. Leota will be laid to rest in Sandborn Cemetery.

Family and friends may call from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM on Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Greene County General Hospital Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
