John R. Risley

John R Risley, age 58, of Lyons, Indiana passed away on Friday, May 31, 2019, at Greene County General Hospital. He was born on February 12, 1961, in Linton, Indiana, to Norman Richard "Dick" Risley & Patsy (Burch) Risley.

John worked for the railroad in the early 80’s. Then, he worked at the Worthington cord factory until it’s closing in 2002.  John continued to work as a corn husker and also for Purdue until the illness prevented him. John enjoyed the outdoors and fishing anything that will bite on that day.  He would garden and tend to a large variety of hot peppers. John was a quiet, easy going man who had a love for all animals.  He would be able to nurse any ill creature back to it’s health. It seemed the local strays knew to go to John to assist them with any of their problems.

John is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Kala Risley and Matthew Straube; grandchildren, Ryker Price and Evelyn Straube, all of the Saint Louis metro area. Other survivors include, his sisters; Dixie Smith, of Hymera, Indiana, Sherry Stewart of Linton, Indiana, Bobbi Jo (Tad) Hood of Hymera, Indiana, a grandmother Peggy Burch of Bloomington, Indiana, an Uncle, an Aunt and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Joseph Risley, grandparents and newphew, Steven Stewart.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton on Monday, July 8, 2019.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 11:00 am until the time of service.
