Janice Lee Cross

Janice Lee Cross, age 70, of Lyons, passed away peacefully at 1:23 pm on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at Greene County General Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Indianapolis, IN on August 21, 1955. She was the daughter of Lutie & Myrtle (Norwood) Collins.

She was a graduate of Shakamak High School. She worked as a cook and waitress at restaurants over several years and in her most recent years she worked as a clerk at Chuckles where she got to interact with several of her regular customers. She enjoyed mushroom hunting, being out in nature and spending time with her family who will miss her dearly.

Janice is survived by her daughters, Jamie (Jairo) Arenas of Hammond and Jessie (Adam) Stockrahm of Linton; grandchildren, Cecilia (Tony Lopez) Gaspar, Benjamin Gaspar, Eliza Gaspar, Edynn Gaspar, Mariana Arenas, Nolan Stockrahm, Silas Stockrahm and Arlo Stockrahm as well as a great granddaughter, Lela Carrizales.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lutie & Myrtle Collins and Juanita Williams; husbands, Jerry Hansens and Gary Cross; brothers, Raymond Allen Chilton, Jerry Collins, Arthur Williams and James "Keith" Sullivan as well as her companion for the past 10 years, Jeff Darling.

Funeral service will be held at 12:00 Noon at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton of Walton Funeral Service, Inc on February 20, 2026, with Patti Danner officiating. Burial will follow at Antioch Cemetery in Dugger.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, February 19, 2026 from 4:00-7:00 pm, and Friday from 11:00 am until the time of service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Greene County Humane Society through the funeral home.
