Don L. Gambill
/Don L. Gambill, age 77, of Linton, passed away peacefully at 3:35 p.m. on Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at his residence. He was born in Vicksburg, Indiana, on July 1, 1940, the son of the late Uriah Bement Gambill and Edith (Callahan) Gambill.
Don was a graduate of Midland High School. He began working as Coal Miner in 1970 and was the president of the UMWA Local 1423 for over 20 years. He loved traveling the country on the back of his Harley motorcycle.
Don also loved the great outdoors, hunting in Maine, Colorado and Florida. He was locally known as the "Bear Man" in Vicksburg.
He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Marilyn McBride Wilson Gambill of Vicksburg; children, Pam (Gary) Yeryar of Jasonville, Rick Gambill of Linton, Vic (Carla) Gambill of Vicksburg, Donald Gambill of Edinburgh, Jillda (Chris) Spinks of Linton, Debra (Dana) Smith of Jacksonville, FL, step-son, Jeffrey Wilson of Royal Oak, MI, step-son, A.J. Wilson of Colorado Springs, CO; 18 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; sister, Ruby Kellams of Linton, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, four sisters and one grandson.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton on Saturday, May 5, 2018, with Pastor Doug Cassel officiating. Burial will follow at Antioch Cemetery in Dugger.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00a.m. until the time of service.
