Dejah Lorraine Wier

Dejah Lorraine Wier, 83, of Jasonville, Indiana, passed away at 5:38 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, 2018, in Union Hospital, Terre Haute, Indiana. She was born June 5, 1934, in Greene County, Indiana to Lowell Noel Wasnidge and Olive Lou (Yeryar) Wasnidge.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Jesse Willard Wier of Jasonville who she married on April 9, 1955; children, Jesse David Wier (Michelle) of Jasonville, Janice Lorraine McBride (Ed) of Jasonville; granddaughters, Christy L. Wier, Elayne Settles step-grandsons, Ian Budd, Caiden Budd; brother, Jerry Wasnidge (Gail) of Jasonville; nieces and nephews; Wasnidge, Yeryar and Shacklett cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Claude Wasnidge, Phillip Wasnidge.

Willard was honored to have her as his wife and she was one the best moms a person could have. She was loved by family and friends alike. Cooking for family and friends plus seeing them enjoy the fruit of her efforts was one of her biggest joys. She enjoyed visiting relatives and family reunions, playing euchre there. Decorating profusely for every holiday was one of her big things too! She enjoyed going to high school basketball games where she was one of the loudest fans. She was a dedicated mushroom hunter and an occasional fisherman for bluegills. Flea markets, antique stores and the like were favorites to acquire her many collections most of all butterfly themed items.

Dejah graduated from Jasonville High School Class of 1952 where she had been elected Homecoming Queen and earned an Associate’s Degree from Indiana Business College. She was a homemaker and had previously worked at Poe & Krutt Rexall at the soda fountain where she met Willard, Formfit, Gossard’s and GE. She was a member of the Jasonville United Methodist Church and Tri Kappa.

Arrangements were entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street; Jasonville, Indiana. Visitation was scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Tuesday at the Funeral Home. Funeral Services were 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at the Cox Funeral Home with Pastor Sam Bush officiating.

Interment was at Lebanon Cemetery in Midland, IN.
