New entries on the morning Jail Log at the Greene County Sheriff’s Department on Thursday, June 24, 2021:

June 23, 2:40 p.m. – Kevin Carl Padgett Sr., 53, Linton, Ind., was arrested on new preliminary charges of felony strangulation, confinement and domestic battery. His bond was set at $1,200 surety with ten percent cash allowed. Bloomfield Police Lt. Marvin Holt was the arresting officer.

June 23, 11:27 p.m. – Donald Franklin Barron III, 30, Farmersburg, Ind., was arrested on a warrant issued out of Knox County for failure to appear at an initial hearing on charges of misdemeanor domestic battery and battery resulting in moderate bodily injury. He was being held without bond. Jasonville Police Officer Skylar Scott was the arresting officer.

Defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. Individuals are booked into jail on warrants issued by courts or on “preliminary charges” based on recommendations of investigating or arresting officers. Charges may change when a new case is filed in court by the prosecutor who reviews the case and makes the charging decision.
