When officers arrived at a motel room in early July to check on two men believed to have overdosed on illegal drugs, they reported finding methamphetamine, heroin and paraphernalia scattered around the room. The men were unconscious. They were taken to the hospital by ambulance. Now they’re facing drug charges, with warrants out for their arrest.
James R. Kent, 33, Switz City, and Nathan W. Davidson, 33, Dugger, are both facing preliminary charges of:
Possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony,
Possession of a narcotic drug, a Level 6 felony, and
Unlawful possession of a syringe, a Level 6 felony.
Officers Joseph Riley and Adam King of the Linton Police Department were dispatched to a motel room at the Park Inn in Linton around 8:05 p.m. on Wednesday, July 1, after someone reported two men had possibly overdosed. When they arrived, they found the two men unconscious. They were later identified as Kent and Davidson.
Officer Riley, the investigating officer, said while EMS staff was working to give immediate medical attention to the men, he saw three syringes on one of the beds and another syringe on the floor between the beds where Davidson was located. Officers also saw several Ziploc bags with a brown and white powder substance in plain view. In addition, Officer Riley saw a clear plastic box with new syringes, spoons, torch lighters and rubber band type tourniquets.
Both Kent and Davidson were transported to Greene County General Hospital by ambulance.
After a judge approved, a search warrant for the room was executed at 10:52 p.m.
Officer Riley reported that during the search, they found a Ziploc baggie with a white crystal substance that field-tested positive as methamphetamine, another Ziploc baggie with a brown and white powder that field-tested positive as heroin, another Ziploc baggie with a substance they could not identify, as well as items previous mentioned. All substances were sent to an Indiana State Police Lab for analysis – results pending.
Criminal cases were filed against both men and warrants for their arrests were issued on July 13. Both warrants are still active and outstanding.
